Well im thinking about getting the IPhone for christmass and I was wondering what is a data plan. The plan I want is $40/month but the data plan is $30/month so im wondering what does the data plan actually do that justifies $30/month?Question about the Iphone 3G.
Pretty sure the data plan is what you need for the internet to work on the phone.Question about the Iphone 3G.
data plan gives you a download limit etc...I hate the iphone drop calls, bad signal and my screen cant dial 456 I have to use the fring app to make calls lol

So pretty much im stuck with paying $70 a month?
man that sucks for you. I'm thinking about an iPhone, and my Fido's iPhone plans are great. $60 bucks does calling, texting, and a decent data plan. You need the data plan to go on the internet.
i have my iphone on a different carrier and it is much MUCH cheaper ;)

no I think they have a data/phone plan for $60 a month so go with that
Data plan is Internet access. Uses the 3G network, depends on where you are. I live in LR, Arkansas and the 3G kinda sucks here, but it's blazing fast in Memphis and Dallas.
i just got it and the data plamn for me is 30 dollars and its for unlimited internet access and what not, and the unlimited texting wouldve been like 20 bucks but then i set up and unlimited family texting plan for my parents which was a total of 30 dollars for all three of us, so it was liek ten dollars per person and the cool thing is, that the texting can go to any network and not have extra charges so its not just between the three of us and its not liek i would ever text my parents haha, soits a total of 40 dollars a month for me
