Gamespot just adds an OT because it's custom for any andall forums to include one. since religion (or lack thereof) doesn't really have anything to do with video games. It wouldn't make much sense.
Half the fun of OT is religious debates.
I would prefer GameSpot to implement a system where topic creators can categorize their topics under ''religion'' (like blogs) and viewers can tag the thread under ''religion'' (in the event that the topic creator fails to categorize the thread appropriately) so that users can disable any threads listed under ''religion'' so they won't be able to see them. I've posted this to Site Enhancements before and a few users liked the idea, but I doubt it will pass.
