The rules seem to get stricter as time goes and the mods and admins don't let some simple things go that provide nothing but laughs and no harm.

It is just a down time for OT, it happens from time to time.
It's like the OT comedy market is heading into recession.
Probably more immature moderators (IE, too eager to follow the rules verbatim, too eager to appease, probably of younger age).
I've seen some hilarious internet pictures in the last few days. I haven't been on GS lately, so either people aren't posting said funny pictures in YLYL threads or you just have no sense of humor. :P
I don't have the interest to create a funny thread about my exploits as a gay stripper turned into a Bible thumping Christian.
