What would happen if they got rid of Christmas?

Would the world become enraged, happier, fall into complete chaos in a war between the ones that believe celebrating and the ones that don't?

Just a thought i had going through my head during Chemistry today :P

How do you even go about taking Christmas away? People will celebrate whatever they want.

Like, if they got rid of the commercial aspect? Religious aspect?

They couldn't just say ''Okay, no one's allowed to celebrate Christmas anymore''.

Also, who are ''they''?

Nothing. People wouldn't allow the government to tell them what holidays they can/can not celebrate, and so would still do everything they do on Christmas.

I think this would happen and some advocates of Christmas may revolt I guess, but I don't see how anyone can reasonably start something major over a holiday.
Well, if the government walked in and banned Christmas people would still celebrate it. Businesses, on the other hand, would probably put pressure. Quite a few protests I suppose.

The malls usually get busy this time of year with Christmas shoppers, and if it weren't for them the problem may be worse.

Why would that ever happen?
Who's ''they'' and how would ''they'' stop us? If ''they'' had enough power to stop Christmas they could prolly take over the world, that's what'd concern me the most!
We would all die.
Santa Claus and his ''Reindeer Ring'' would be deprived of a source of profit without Christmas, forcing them to use the sleigh business in the illegal transport and manufacture of drugs and firearms. The northern nations (Canada, Russia, the Northern European Countries, etc.) see his business ''diversification'' as a threat to their countries, and send covert ops teams into the North Pole to deal with ''The Claus''. They talk to the elves, who have long been opressed, working all day shifts 364 days a year making toys, and encourage them to start a Socialist Revolution in the North Pole to withdraw them from the black market business. The elves revolt, but Santa Claus and his Reindeer do not give up easily. Millions die, the North Pole is left in ruins.
