J.K. Rowling vs Stephanie Meyer

who is the better author overall? and who's story did you get more into? Harry potter's or Bella Swan's? I would have to give it to Harry potter and JKR because I loved every part of every book while Stephine Myers books I feel are more for girls because of all bella's talk on how gorgeous Edward is. I really liked both but another thing that is pulling my vote towards JKR is that she started out with nothing and is now a millionaire if not billionaire, I know that has nothing to do with her book but I had to take it into account.J.K. Rowling vs Stephanie Meyer
Neither.J.K. Rowling vs Stephanie Meyer
I will personally e-smack anyone who says Stephanie Meyer.
Rowling, by far. At least Harry Potter was engaging before the hype around the series shifted to who's gonna get killed next, Stephanie Meyer just wrote a generic love story that emphasizes how sexeh Cullen is and demolishes the meaning of a ''vampire''.

 I haven't read the Twilight series, but the hype surrounding the movie has sort of put me off ever wanting to read 'em... Plus, my friends drive me mad over them.

Harry Potter are teh win.
I gotta say JKR. I think the twilight series is alright, but not too good. Harry Potter is more mature, especially Deathly Hollows.
J.K. Rowling easily
Definitely Rowling. Especially considering Meyer took the story from another book. I forget the name, but it's practically the same story.
I will pick J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter over Stephenie Meyer and Twilight any day.I've read all of the Harry Potter books and all of the Twilight books, and while I sort of got into the Twilight stories and enjoyed a couple of characters, I was still able to acknowledge the fact that the books are poorly written and not very creative. I only like a handful of characters in the Twilight series, and I can't stand Edward and Bella. They're both obnoxious and superficial. Edward is too overprotective, and Bella is melodramatic. The overall plotlines are pretty lame as well. Honestly, I really only like the funny parts (both when she's trying to be funny and when she's just being straight-up lame and ridiculous) and the character Jacob Black.Harry Potter, on the other hand, is a brilliant series. J.K. Rowling is a fantastic writer. She develops her characters so incredibly well. She even develops minor characters, and you definitely can't say that about Stephenie Meyer. She really only develops Edward and Bella, and even then, they're kind of generic. With J.K. Rowling's characters, it's hard not to have some sort of feeling about them, whether you love them or hate them or think that they're strange/annoying/funny or whatever. With Stephenie Meyer's characters, I've found that I only really love one, hate two, and am apathetic toward the rest. J.K. Rowling has created an entire world within her series. She's made up all of these wizard names, creatures, spells, etc. Her plots are very creative, and even though they are fantasy books, you can't help but relate to the stories. You almost don't even realize that they're truthfully far-fetched and most likely not possible. The thing with Harry Potter is that you can be sucked into the books for days on end, and I know I'm not the only person out there who's read a Harry Potter book in a day because it was just so fascinating and engrossing. Anyway, to sum it up, I think that Stephenie Meyer is an average to bad writer with lame characters and uncreative storylines. I think that J.K. Rowling is a brilliant, creative, and talented writer with tons of interesting characters and a whole world laid out for you. I've been a huge Harry Potter fan for ten years, and I will defend it to the death. :P
Neither of them are great writers in the literary sense. But then again, neither is stephen king. His writing isn't great, but man can he tell a story.

I'm gonna go for stephanie meyer here. I've never really gotten into the harry potter books, but Twilight was amazing in my mind (I'm a girl btw.) And btw for you guys out there, I don't really see how a guy could get into that type of book because a good portion of the book is about Bella loving Edward and talking about him. Twilight is definately a chick book (no offense.)
Stephanie Meyer is a disgrace. The Twilight series is nothing but a dysfunctional and obsessive relationship between two people. And to make things even more ****ed up, she made one a vampire... Not to mention it's so misogynistic and sexist.

I never went too far into the series myself, but how exactly was the series sexist? I've heard a lot of people say it but I don't know exactly what is sexist about the books... Just curious, not arguing against :P

I shouldn't be bashing them as much as I am, and I don't want to get in a big argument... Sorry, guys, I'll shut up. :P
