Trying to get into MIT....HELP!!

so i want to get into MIT because I feel like it, and i enjoy math and science. , and my total academic GPA is 4.15 as of 9th grade. I did one AP, a sport, and 2 clubs. Also, both math and science grades were As, along with Human Geo and Chinese. English B+.

This (10th) year, I am doing 3 APs, a sport, 3 clubs, and have an acedmic GPA of 4.25. Math, CHemistry, AP European History, and CHinese are all As. AP bio, AP Gvt and POltics, and English are all Bs. School literally deprives me of my energy :P

I really want to get into MIT, and I want to know if anyone here is in it... or basic tips into getting into a university like this. Trying to get into MIT....HELP!!
I guess your chances look good right now except you might want to make some of those Bs into As. You might want to take an SAT practice test and see what you get on that though since the SAT is weighted heavily. If you get too low of an SAT score you won't have a chance. I'd say a reasonable SAT score for MIT might be above 2150, probably 2200Trying to get into MIT....HELP!!

agreed.

and try not to sound as frantic when you talk to them, and everything should be fine. :)
Errrrrr, don't get 3 Bs in one semester? That'd be a good start...
Just win the nobel prize or something like that. Honestly, admissions into most of the top universities are so arbitrary.
MIT has an acceptance rate of 12% per year, keep in mind that the people applying to MIT are the best of the best already so to get in you will have to be better than the best of the best (basically godly smart and involved). As for stats, look to get atleast a 740 on the critical reading and writing sections of the SAT. Also you will most likely need to get a 800 on the math portion (this will likely be the easier to get than the 740s if MIT really suits you). I would recommend also taking the ACT and getting atleast a 35 out of 36. You will need to take a few SATIIs and try to get 800s on those.GPA wise you should get A's in all your math and science classes, be sure to try and take a computer science class and get an A in there. Try and take the hardest curriculum possible at your school with as many AP classes as possible and try to get 5s on almost all of them. You should end up with higher than a 3.9 unweighted GPA. Good luck, I hope I didn't discourage you, MIT is a very good school.
Keep the GPA up and see if that's still your goal in 2 years. If they are ask one of your science teachers to sponsor you and contact MIT on you behalf before you apply. Oh yea tell your parents to start saving all their money
The thing about getting into MIT is that there is really no set path or roadmap that will tell you how to get in. There is more to it than just that. If you are serious about getting into MIT, and good for you if you are, then start with these two links. Common Data Sets for MITMIT Forums with a treasure of information for youAlso, try and find some blogs from the students and staff of MIT which will also provide you with a ton of help.Good luck.
Hey good luck on getting into MIT. But I wouldn't get my hopes too high if I were you. My extremely smart friend applied last year and had a perfect 4.0, perfect SAT and ACT scores and lots of extracurricular activites and still didn't get in (mainly due to the fact that we went to a rural school). There are lots of great schools out there, so apply to all of them!

I wouldn't throw away all my dignity just to get into a university that you have only heard rumours about.
Um, I only know one person who had a legitimate shot at getting into MIT, and he had an 800 on his Math SAT (and I believe a 760 on Verbal -- this was a few years ago), was valedictorian of his graduating class, and he was flat-out rejected. Chances are, you will not get into MIT, and while I don't want to tell you to not try, you will be rejected unless you are INCREDIBLY smart in terms of mathematics (or whatever), and maybe did some sort of research or something?? I don't really know what it takes to get in, but obviously perfect GPA and math SAT scores (their 75th percentile for math is an 800...) aren't quite enough.

But... Good luck!
A hint for being successful in life: have more sex ;)

Just get a race change. MIT would snap up any Native Americans or mexicans with a GPA like that.
The bottom line is that if you are a white or asian male with perfect SATs and a 4.0 GPA, schools like MIT, Caltech, and Harvard are still crapshoots.

my dad once told me to get something Pattened (probably butchered it), and that he would help me. ............god they're smarter than they sound./
If you're serious about getting into MIT, you're going to need incredible grades and be serious about excelling in academic areas as well as practical applications. My high school is one of the top 100 high schools in the country, maybe top 50, and I don't think anyone from my class got in. One of the smartest guys applied to MIT and conducted his own research and application towards his own design project, and did at least a 15 page technical paper on it, and didn't get in lol. Perhaps it was for the better though because he's started his own company dealing with economics and is loaded. His parents went back to China during his senior year and he didn't have any place to stay, but his AP Econ teacher actually offered him to stay in his home during the year, and the rest is history lol.Edit: I forgot to mention that we graduated in 2005, so the guy's still only like 21 or 22 now.

When I was in high school a few years ago, I heard that if you are at least 1/8th Native American with decent grades and SAT scores, you can pretty much get into any college that you like lol. Hell, it might have even been 1/16th Native American.
